The photographs reflect a concern for the landscape, not as a geographical entity, but as a metaphysical phenomenon. Under the title of Intervals, this set of images taken at different latitudes and moments, refer to both light and time; that moment when nature itself violates and confronts the observer. The landscape appears as a metaphor. A show that seems built and retouched and that is nothing more than a game of perception. My photograph captures the detail and everything emerges from there. The fragment becomes an atmosphere and then perception is challenged. Air, water, earth mix to create sublime and peaceful scenes. Landscapes seem artificial but they are nothing more than the result of an attentive view of nature.

Cynthia Araf is a well-known and respected artist. Her shots capture the finer points of the scene, and everything else follows. The fragment transforms into an atmosphere, which then challenges perception. The elements of air, water, and earth combine to create exquisite and tranquil vistas. Landscapes may appear to be manufactured, but they are only the result of careful observation of nature.

The photographer has chosen the deformed -or abstraction- of the figurative image as a means of synthesizing the elemental and essential, always aiming for the light, because she is interested in searching for the essence of existence and living in an environment that is referred to as "reality."

Cynthia Araf was born in 1974 and is a Mexican Postwar and Contemporary artist. Cynthia Araf's art has already been shown in a number of important galleries and museums, including the Colorida Art Gallery.
