Watercolor painting “Night light. The city of Lviv” was drawn from life in the city of Lviv during my cycling plein air travel across western Ukraine in spring-summer 2020. This is my first night sketch in this beautiful city day and night. At night, it is drawn in a completely different way than during the day, and time passes in a different way, and all the impressions, sensations are completely different. And you have to draw almost by touch, often relying on experience while mixing and applying paints. We are looking for a place with the light from the lantern, because the light from the headlamp turns out to be very hard, distorting the colors of the colors, and from the city lantern, it is softer. Of course, such a night drawing from nature entails some inconvenience (so that you do not want to sleep you have to chew something all the time, and other extreme situations ...), but the result also justifies the invested funds, probably such a truthful and vital plot will not work in the workshop as from nature.
The painting was working by professional Italian Maimeri Blu watercolors on 100% cotton paper with a density of 300 grams, which will give the picture durability.

Andrii Kovalyk, a Ukrainian traveling artist, was born in 1986 in the city of Chernivtsi, Ukraine. He received a professional icon painting education, during his studies he copied ancient icons in some of the largest museums. During his studies and several years later, he painted churches and painted icons. But in 2018, he decided to fulfill his old dream of a round-the-world trip. Since then, he has been traveling almost non-stop on a bicycle in different countries all the world and painting from nature.

Through travels, he gets to know himself and the world around him, and with the help of painting he tries to convey the whole range of emotions and impressions from the stories that happen enough during his travels.

Participant and prize winner of international exhibitions and competitions. 

Paintings and icons are kept in private collections in the USA, United Kingdom, other countries of Europe and the world.

Now lives and travels in Spain.
