Alain Barat, born in 1964, lives and works in France. A versatile artist, he uses various mediums such as watercolor on paper, ink on paper, digital art, pencil on paper and marker on paper. His style oscillates between surrealism, figurative and caricature, thus offering a rich and varied palette to his creations. Alain Barat began his activity as a designer and illustrator for the press at the age of 18, under the influence of the painter Fernandez Diaz. After studying applied arts in Bordeaux, he joined Atelier Lafaye then Atelier Pluriel, where he deepened his knowledge of anatomy using live models, working on portraits and academic nudes.
Orders are pouring in for theater (creation of sets), publishing (covers of novels) and communication (agencies, illustrations for conferences, etc.). His press drawings and caricatures also find an important place in his works, where he sometimes sketches, from life, the faces of passers-by in action. Its clean lines, stylized in the manner of comic book artists, reveal a pronounced taste for portraiture. His models, increasingly feminine, reflect his aesthetic research.
