Dédalo, arquitecto que construyó el Laberinto de Creta; estaban retenidos en la isla de Creta, por el rey Minos, y buscan de escapar de la isla volando. Dédalo se puso a trabajar para fabricar alas para él y su hijo. Enlazó plumas entre sí uniendo con hilo las plumas centrales y con cera las laterales, y le dio al conjunto la suave curvatura de las alas de un pájaro. Cuando ambos estuvieron preparados para volar, Dédalo advirtió a Ícaro que no volase demasiado alto porque el calor del sol derretiría la cera, ni demasiado bajo porque la espuma del mar mojaría las alas y no podría volar. Entonces el muchacho comenzó a ascender. El ardiente sol ablandó la cera que mantenía unidas las plumas y estas se despegaron. Ícaro agitó sus brazos, pero no quedaban suficientes plumas para sostenerlo en el aire y cayó al mar. Su padre lloró lamentando amargamente sus artes, y, en su memoria, llamó Icaria a la tierra cercana al lugar del mar en el que Ícaro había caído.
Esta obra de gran colorido y basada en este mito griego, hace referencia a la transmisión de la experiencia de los padres a los hijos. Al observarla detenidamente se aprecia el trabajo en las superficies del fondo y las alas

Edgar Salguero is a contemporary Costa Rican artist born in Costa Rica in 1950. He pursued his studies at the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and later adopted Guanajuato, Mexico, as his place of residence and artistic muse.
Salguero served as a professor of Representation Techniques at the Schools of Architecture and Interior Design at the University of Guanajuato, Mexico. His artistic career includes participation in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Mexico and the United States.
Self-taught in his artistic training, Salguero embraces experimentation in his work. His deep affection for Mexico is evident in his use of color and thematic emphasis. His originality, a hallmark of genuine artistry, reflects his architectural background, evident in the rhythm, contrast, and harmony present in his pieces. His careful and attentive approach to art highlights his extensive knowledge and experience.
