Don Trevi
Don Trevelino was born in South Philadelphia in August of 1933. A versatile artist whose initial goal was to be a vocalist in theater and musical comedy. Before and after military service in the middle fifties, he studied music at the Philadelphia Institute of Music for four years and had private vocal coaching for 3 years. Don performed in theaters, night clubs and live radio in Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York. Married in 1953 the first two (twins) of his four sons were born in 1956.
From 1957 thru 1961, while continuing to pursue a singing career, he became an accomplished technical illustrator with General Electric's Missile and Space Division specializing in concept drawings of space vehicles and working on secret and top secret space and military projects. This launched him into a career as DON TREVI in advertising, graphic design, corporate identity design, commercial illustration and fine art. In fine art he illustrated artifacts, biblical art inspired by the Book of Revelations and nudes. His mediums are pencil, charcoal, oils and acrylics. He produced two award winning print series, “Nudes International” and “Mother and Child International” in 1972 from original pencil drawings. Don has been twice president of the Artists Guild of Delaware Valley and was seven years chairman of the Ethics Committee. He has earned more than two hundred awards for his work.
Working from his own studio, executed designs and illustrations for advertising, collateral material, exhibits and packaging for companies such as Sunoco, Arco, Wyeth, Luden’s, Whitman’s, Hershey, Amp Incorporated, RCA, Reliance Insurance, Insurance Company of North America, AM General, SPS Technologies, Teleflex Corporation, Philadelphia Zoo and many others. Don created a two panel cartoon titled Zingers and is a published cartoonist in “Sting”, a satirical magazine publishing International Cartoonists. He instructed in advertising and graphic design at Delaware County Community College, PA in 1985 and rejoined GE Aerospace in King of Prussia, PA in 1986. For more than 3 years as senior technical illustrator, art director, graphics coordinator and instructor in desktop publishing and computer graphics applications, Don performed Test and Evaluation exercises on Macintosh, Xerox and Sun Interleaf systems. Also received the General Managers Award for a 2 year project.
From late in 1989 Don decided to devote more of his time to fine art,painting, drawing, photography, scanning and the computer to produce finished work. For the past several years Don produces his work with Digital Photography, Computer and Inkjet Printers. The work is categorized as follows...Posters on heavy paper, Art Prints on heavy paper, Art Prints on Canvas and Limited Edition Prints. The subjects are Nudes, Landmarks, Historic Sites and Covered Bridges in color and Sepia.
