Dominik Robert Brunner
"It's not about the destination, it's about the journey"

The young talented artist Dominik Robert Brunner is an insider tip in the art scene! His works achieve prices of over €28,000 at auction. You can be sure that you will hear and see a lot more from him in the future.

Born in Fürth (Bavaria) in 1990, he grew up in a sheltered home in a nearby village. This environment left a lasting impression on him. When he talks about his childhood and adolescence, his eyes light up: sitting around the campfire with friends, enjoying the moment without thinking about the future... He associates the memory of this time with the concepts of fun, joy in life, with the Feeling of freedom. Nature has been of central importance to him since early childhood: as a place to let off steam, to draw strength and to find inspiration.

When asked how he got into art, a smile appears on his face: "Actually, I was really bad at art at school." But that changed abruptly in the 6th grade. There was the project in art: “Build your dream house”. Dominik Robert was so enthusiastic about the project that he "built" a house, his dream house, with full dedication and many hours of detailed work. A house with several floors. And during construction he felt: "This is mine." From the 7th grade it was his dream job to become a technical draftsman: to create something on paper, accurately and if possible three-dimensionally - this idea fascinated him.

Although Dominik Robert Brunner would have liked to become a chef, he decided to train as a wholesale and retail salesman. At first he was employed in a company that manufactured equipment for large companies. He also worked in a nursery, which he switched to after completing his training. The interior design with plants gave him pleasure.
At that time, when Dominik Robert was 17, his best friend at the time gave him a set of oil paints. Dominik Robert has started painting – “extremely abstract”, as he calls it.

Professionally Dominik Robert changed to a furniture store. He soon assumed managerial responsibility there. There he could only be a little creative. He found balance in growing vegetables and herbs and in cooking.

The death of his grandfather in April 2016 was a drastic experience for Dominik. He fell into a deep hole and didn't let anyone near him anymore. At the same time, he realized that he needed something to help him deal with the situation. When he was at the hardware store with his father, he decided to buy spray cans and sprayed his first comic. He enjoyed this so much that he began to paint on canvas with acrylic paints. At first it was small formats for myself and friends. Later it was a large picture that he painted, which now adorns his dining room. A happy dog can be seen walking elatedly on its way. It's Dominik's favorite picture. Dominik Robert has started to experiment. Looking back, he says he's never felt so free and happy as he did at that time, full of energy. Eventually he discovered abstract painting for himself.

Dominik Robert is still very much inspired by his grandfather. Again and again he remembers the time spent together and what was important to his grandfather. This gave him values. What Dominik Robert also appreciated about him was that he always said openly what he thought and felt and went his own way.

Nature also inspires Dominik. He consciously perceives them, pays attention to the little things, to the colors. He loves spring the most, when everything in nature begins to bloom, the birds are singing, the sun's rays are warming him and he is fascinated by the play of shadows.

Music also inspires him. Each of his paintings is influenced by music... from classical music to hip-hop... every genre of music leaves its mark on the canvas.

Dominik Robert likes to experiment: his works are characterized by a variety of techniques and materials: he paints on canvas, paper, wood - and uses acrylic, ink, oil, chalk, pastel colors, chlorine. He uses sand, gypsum, concrete, clay, rock dust. Next he wants to experiment with metal.

Each of his pictures tells a story about a specific situation in his life. Dominik Robert wants to express his own emotions with his pictures. At the same time, his goal is to bring joy to the viewer. He would like to put him in a trance and help him to forget difficult everyday situations or to deal with them more easily. That's why he has very high standards for himself.

Look forward to many fascinating pictures by this extraordinary artist.
