Christian Delavelle has been drawing and painting for some fifteen years. Self-taught, his preferred tools of expression are acrylic, dry pastel and charcoal. His pictorial language is based on transparency, superimpositions, reflections and spatial perspective.

He develops each work from themes or situations taken from novels, poems or travel memories. His canvases evoke the sometimes fleeting moments when a living being (human, animal or plant) is confronted with an unusual natural phenomenon, such as a high tide, a comet in the night, a storm, a drought, a flood, a tempest or thick fog.

Christian Delavelle strives to have a respectful attitude towards the materials he uses. As far as possible, he recycles second-hand canvases, avoids large, thick flat tints and uses the canvas surface in such a way as to limit himself to representing the essential.

For five years, he studied with Solweig von Kleist, Nathalie Tournesac, Olivier Le Bars and Vincent Bébert at the Académie d'art de Meudon. He exhibits online at “Les 3 Dauphins” gallery and on “Artmajeur by YourArt”. He participates regularly at events in the Paris region, such as the « Salon de la Société Versaillaise des Artistes d'Ile-de-France », the « Salon de la Sèvrienne des Arts » and the « Salon des Arts Meudonnais ».
