Daniel Myers
Born and raised in Central Illinois, art has been a part of my life since I can remember and I've always held an interest for being creative in any possible medium. I owe most of my interest and basic skills to my middle school art teacher who gave me direction, focus, and refinement in my art, and my high school art teachers who allowed me to be creative beyond the guidelines of the classes, allowing me to create my own projects and ideas.
I formed and gessoed my first canvas in middle school, used acrylics, inks, charcoal, pencil, pastels, and just about every other medium since, besides oil paint.
Only recently have I used oils and have experienced it as a constant learning experience for me as I experiment with different techniques and styles, like knife painting, wet-on-wet landscapes, surrealism, expressionism and impressionism.

The forgiving nature of oils allows for the influence of the artist's emotions and thoughts to flow through the canvas and to be manipulated by a brush, knife, or even finger even days after the initial paint, emotion, or thought, has been laid down.
Constant practice and awareness to how and what is being painted are critical to improvement in color usage, and how one manipulates the paint on canvas.
Oil paints as my medium.
