Daniel Baharier

Tel Aviv, Israel
Artist (Sculpture)
Born 1956

Daniel Baharier, born in England in 1956, is a versatile artist whose creative journey spans continents and artistic mediums. Having initially studied art in England, he relocated to Israel in 1980, where he continued to hone his artistic skills and delve into sculpture techniques and ideas.

Daniel's artistic pursuits extend beyond his personal creations; he is deeply engaged in teaching sculpture and various casting methods, including metals, welding, plastics, plaster, and cement. His dedication to perfecting his craft is evident in his ongoing exploration of ideas and techniques.

In addition to traditional sculpture, Daniel Baharier ventures into non-traditional art methods, exemplified by his collaborative project on the Tel Aviv beach—a striking eight-meter high sand sculpture. Notably, in 1994-5, he undertook a significant commission from Emilio Pellus of EDF Construction & Investments Ltd. The project, part of the Carmel Shuk 2000 initiative in Rishon-Le-Zion, involved creating 24 sculptures, each ranging from 3 to 3.5 meters in height, depicting figures from the Jewish Diaspora a century ago.

Collaboration is a recurring theme in Daniel's career, as seen in his 1996 partnership with British artist Michelle Baharier on the installation titled "Lennon's On Sale Again." This multi-media experience seamlessly integrates sound, sculpture, collages, projections, and poetry.

Daniel Baharier's sculptures have left an indelible mark on the Israeli film and television industry, featuring prominently in various productions. The Tel Aviv Museum of Art hosted a special long-term exhibition showcasing his works. Beyond the museum walls, his sculptures adorn private collections in Israel and around the world, with notable acclaim from MK Meir Shitreet, Cabinet Minister, who proudly possesses five of Daniel's sculptures.

Currently, Daniel is immersed in a captivating project at the Wingate Institute, focusing on large-scale sports sculptures. This endeavor allows him to combine his lifelong love of showcasing movement and sport, demonstrating the ongoing evolution of his artistic expression.
