Christine Lavoie was born in 1963 in Chicoutimi, Quebec (Canada). A graduate in graphic design, she works in this profession in Quebec and then in France. Installed in Nantes in 1991, alongside her professional activity, she learned about painting through various leisure workshops. She will thus explore different techniques, a self-taught approach, punctuated by stops and starts.
In 2015, she settled on the island of Oléron as an artist. His studio-gallery is open to the public six months a year. You can see her painting and chat with her about her work. In 2017, training as an art therapist will liberate one’s art. Then take a more personal and intuitive approach. She paints on the steel which she makes to rust. A pictorial language that she develops through experimentation. This lively and rich material is surprising. She continues to develop her language and discover all the potential that this material brings to light in her.
Her paintings evoke the soul that inhabits the “living”. More or less realistic figurations, more or less important, but always as details in a whole that remains generally abstract. His art can be viewed from near and far to discover its hidden inhabitants. An imaginary and dreamlike art is born, made to get lost and dream. It arouses emotion, curiosity, interaction for those who look at it.
