I work spontaneously, intuitively and gesturally, where the unconscious takes up more space than the conscious. I am not trying to represent my environment, but rather to arouse an emotion. I first choose a color palette, then I spread the paint without really thinking. When I am satisfied with the result, I take a break which allows me to think about the next step. I add details that guide the eye through the work and give it meaning.

After experimenting with several media such as sculpture, painting on silk, and watercolor, she finally adopted acrylic painting and mixed techniques. Her goal through her art is to make living environments more joyful and appealing to the eye, creating emotion in the spectator. Proulx uses vibrant colors and quick gestures in an almost unconscious manner. She adds texture with graphite, watercolor pencils, or charcoal while the paint is still wet.
