I am 50 years old. I am married, two children of 22 and 9 years old. I live in Vaucluse, where I am a primary school teacher. Contact with children as well as with nature constantly nourishes my capacity for wonder. As a child, I spent my time in class staring at the window watching the birds, dreaming... I liked to draw and color, for hours on end.
At 24, I was given my first buckets of watercolors and an easel. It doesn't take much for painting to enter my veins. For six years, I painted landscapes and still lifes. Then I devote myself to my family life, and after some painful trials, the loss of my father and my mother, in 2019, I feel the vital need to create so as not to sink. My refuge, my shelter, my passion is calling me. I can't ignore it anymore.
I then experimented on my own, new mediums, in acrylic then in mixed techniques. It's time for me to live more intensely, to put aside the pastel halftones of yesterday's still lifes to think outside the box and accept the raw emotions of today.
Color becomes my vector, and Art, my truth. No longer a question of reason but of sensations. At the beginning, I let myself be guided, carried away, freely by the wild colors, often red, orange or green, all in drips, fluids of the background. My inner voice then begins to speak, takes shape. A female face appears, ideal, wild and vulnerable at the same time. A mixture of strength and gentleness, my portraits depict the complexity of women, torn between challenge and fragility.
I pay particular attention to the expression of the gaze, sometimes rebellious or sad, because there lies the whole story that this beauty is going to tell me. The floral and vegetal atmosphere often present, the energy of the bright colors and the rebellious expression of the looks, characterizes my portraits. I then like to add a few poetic words, a tribute to the dialogue that we maintained, she and I, throughout the maturation of the work.
