Biography
Carl Bergeron-Bernier is a 35-year-old emerging painter from Jonquière in Saguenay. A veteran, he went through many challenges during his 14 and a half years in the Canadian Armed Forces as an infantryman and supply technician. He completed four missions, including two in Afghanistan, one in Haiti and one in Kuwait.
In 2020, he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder accompanied by major depression . Following this diagnosis, in search of ways to release his emotions, he began his exploration in painting. Art allows him to free his mind when it is not easy mentally. Since then, Carl has been a self-taught painter who has created over 50 works. His art is abstract and is expressed with different mediums such as acrylic, spray acrylic, latex as well as ink. He enjoys mixing several techniques such as pouring, projection, spatulas as well as the brush.
Artistic approach
His works prove to be visceral, irrational, intuitive and deep. Depending on the different perceptions, it is possible to see different subjects in his works, most of the time unintentional and sometimes not. Carl is at a stage in his recovery where he feels ready to push his art further.
