Diana Childress

I am a self taught artist, with lakota, Sioux heritage, and speak the lakota language as well as english. I have done numerous personal shows, and have had several jurried shows.Many of my works have been sold through out the united states, and I do have a few collectors of my works.
I was fortunate enough to have been born with a gift from Creator, and every painting I do, his hand is guiding me. I believe every piece I do, speaks to me, to my spirit, and connects me with the work.
I also do special order paintings, for anyone who wishes a particular piece done. On those occasions, I usually ask the buyer , or interrested person, a lot of questions about the piece they wish done, in an effort to get the feel for the piece.Once I have that understanding,My spirit is free to feel the process of creating the piece for a particular person.
It has been particularly hard for me to establish myself as an artist, with no formal training,other than my high school years, and what I have learned from books and videos, but my passion is to paint,and that reflects in my work.I beleive everyone is born with a talent, a gift, a hidden passion. It is up to the individual, to discover and nurture that gift.
