Borys Ivanovych Buryak (born October 25, 1953, in the village of Podvirne, Novoselytsky District, Chernivtsi Oblast) is an outstanding Ukrainian artist, teacher, Honored Artist of Ukraine (2004), People's/ National Artist of Ukraine (2014), senator of the International Academy of Contemporary Art, Rome (2009), member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1987). For many years he was acting as a professor of the Lviv National Academy of Arts at the Departments of Drawing and Painting. He currently lives and creatively works in Lviv. The artist, mentor-coach, brought up a brilliant constellation of young professional artists of Ukraine, he is educating them in his own private school and prepares young people for their personal exhibitions.
Education: State School of Decorative and Applied Arts. I. Trusha (1970 - 1974) and the Lviv National Academy of Arts (1974 -1979). For over 45 years he has been actively involved in many national and international exhibitions and is a laureate of the Union of Artists of Ukraine and international competitions. In August 2009, the Andrei Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv hosted a large r Education: State School of Decorative and Applied Arts. I. Numerous personal exhibitions of the artist took place in Lviv, Kyiv, Rzeszow (Poland), New York, Lyon, Metz, Angers (France), Kyiv, Moscow, Vienna, Brussels, Falkenburg (Netherlands), Aachen, Dortmund, Munich, Wach Berkum (Germany) and Prague.
Art publications and stories about artist’s works can be found in the following art magazines: regularly published in Ukrainian magazines such as “Artania”,”Fine Arts”,”Aura”; but as well in Almanac of Belgian Galleries; “Ukraine the Best”, which includes 100 best artists of Ukraine; Encyclopedic edition "Outstanding Persons of Ukraine" and many others. His personal essays on art and famous cultural figures of Ukraine are published in the multi-volume anthology "Ukrainian Theoretical Thought" (vol. 1, vol. 2, vol. 3, vol. 4).
Borys Buryak's works are on exhibition in many museums in Ukraine and are part of private collections in Ukraine, the United States, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
