It is said that if intelligence is Purusha (masculine energy) then intuition is believed to be Prakriti (Feminine energy). Intuition is that feeling in your gut when you instinctively know that something is right or otherwise. Intuition is not logical. It is not the result of a set of considered steps that can be shared or explained. Instead, while based on deep-seated knowledge, the process feels natural, almost instinctual. The subconscious brain attempts to recognize, process, and use patterns of thinking based on prior experience and a best guess. Paradoxically, intuition feels unknowable. After all, you cannot explain the thinking behind a snap decision that appears out of nowhere.
Arpita Ruparel is an emerging artist based in Mumbai. Her thought process and art philosophy stems from the profound and colourful Gujarati folk culture and traditions. The rich colours, authentic patterns and disciplined compositions create a mark that relates and communicates with her viewers. Aprita’s visual composition is about “Bindi” series which represents the existence and presence of the feminine energy amidst the masculine energy. The work of art symbolizes the union of mind and soul, masculine and feminine energies.
Arpita, in her work of art, attempts to capture the abstract Feminine energy in a metaphorical form that is described as a powerful entity and a whole system of rituals have developed around it. The visual composition depicted speaks about the mystic divine language of silence. The visual narration presents the outward symbol of the formless. Arpita believes that this metaphor is He who dwells in you, your innermost self.
Arpita’s colours represent the rich and skilful cultural tradition of the Hindu spiritual values where the Bindi form is considered the ultimate reality itself. Even though the formless cannot be given a form, the Bhindi form is said to be the first form taken during creation. It is considered as the supreme consciousness in which the play of creation happens in the form of Shakti.
