Good whatever time of day it is where you are!
My name is Anna Dotsenko. I am a painter.
When I was 7 years old, I asked my mother to send me to an art school. Since then, paints are in my life for 29 years. The childhood spent in the art school was like a fairy tale. I always eagerly awaited for the next classes.
I am grateful to my teacher Olga Pavlovna for a wonderful creative childhood. Since my young age she laid the foundation for fine art skills.
After graduating from the art school I didn’t think about leaving paints and brushes. For several years I did paintings and wall panels for my home.
A year after graduation from a secondary school, I was enrolled at the Department of Architectural Monitoring of the Urban Environment, National University of Municipal Economy, Kharkiv.
Degree studies were another fairy tale for me, in which I felt in my element. Anyhow each discipline was useful. The most favourite were painting and drawing. I liked the relaxed atmosphere of the classroom with easels and plaster sculptures, still lifes and draperies: this made it possible to tune into a creative wave. Stained-glass glazing gave a special creative atmosphere. Six years flashed before my eyes.
After graduation from the University, I worked as an architect in an engineering company, then as an assistant manager. But there was a constant feeling that all this is not what I was born for ...
Once I met a man dissimilar with all the other people in my life. And time seemed to stop. I began to think about for which purpose I was born. He was always sincere with me, even if we quarrelled and this is what I most appreciate in people. He always surprised me with something. I told him about my old student dream, which I could not fulfil. It was a desire to paint with oil paints. And he gave them to me. On that day that pleased me no end. I fell asleep with paints in my hands. Together with the paints, he gave me a grain of self-belief which sprouted over time ...
After only a year and a half, I opened these paints and dared to use them. Over the evening and half the night, my first picture painted in oil on canvas “The Lion Family”, 50 × 60 cm, was appeared.
The next day was filled with a lot of new positive emotions that I had not experienced before with such brightness. And I felt that something was happening in me ...
A couple of days later, I made a second oil painting on canvas "The Guitar". Emotions covered me up. The dream of my student years came true ... I paint oils.
In the evening an idea was born, and in the morning there was already a picture painted in oil on canvas, and this makes me stronger and more confident. At one point I caught myself thinking that I had been doing this for all my life. I understood that it was impossible to paint pictures at night, and to go out to work in the day-time. There was simply no time to sleep ...
And I chose paintings, because I could not imagine and cannot imagine my life without them.
