The vivid greens and yellows of the background, with their swirling, dreamlike patterns, contrast with the deep, earthy tones of the owl’s feathers. This color palette reflects the owl's connection to the natural world and symbolizes the seasonal shifts and the passage of time. The use of oil paints gives the painting a lush, solid quality, enhancing the depth and richness of the scene. Through this artwork, the young owl becomes a symbol of the wisdom that comes with embracing life's changes, a theme deeply rooted in Eastern European folklore.
This artwork is one of a kind. Made with high-quality professional oil paint on a gallery wrapped canvas. Painting is signed / dated on both front and back. Painted sides, unframed and ready to hang.

Anita Zotkina is a painter working primarily in oil on canvas. She was born in Odessa, near the Black Sea, and began drawing and painting as a child. Her early work focused on animals, people, and dreamlike scenes, often created from memory or imagination.
At age 10, she began studying drawing and painting at the Grekov Art School in Odessa. After one year, she chose not to continue the full program, preferring to follow her own creative direction. After high school, she painted full-time, exhibiting and selling her work in Odessa galleries and at the City Garden.
In her late twenties, Anita moved to New England, where she continued painting while building a new life. Over time, her work became quieter, more symbolic, and rooted in emotional memory. She now paints in a style she calls Softique — a gentle, surreal, and introspective approach to storytelling through color, form, and light. Her paintings often feature women, animals, and imagined landscapes, evoking the feeling of a world remembered from childhood.
She shares her work online and in-person through exhibitions and art fairs. Each piece is a way of returning to something meaningful — a quiet world that still lives within her.
