The City was created from an original documentary photo by Angelika Berndt and reworked to push the boundaries between reality and abstraction, photo and art, with a touch of pop art. The process takes several days and is kind of a hybrid between Angelika's lively abstract drawings and her documentary photography, creating a new, unique and modern look.
This unique art process was developed by Angelika as part of a commission demanding a new and fresh approach to produce art for an exhibition in a London park. Following up on the first images created for the commission, Angelika has now produced a fine set of images representing different moments of life in London.
Every print is produced on request by a specialised printer on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper. All prints come signed and numbered and with a small variation in order to ensure you will receive a unique art piece within the limited edition of the motive.
For commissions and personal projects or if you are interested in A4 or A1 prints, please contact Angelika Berndt directly.

A documentary photographer by trade and an artist by passion, this is one of the few sites where Angelika shows a selection of her artwork.

Art making has been a skill and passion Angelika nurtured since her early childhood and which to this day reflects her diverse and intense life-style. Since her early childhood Angelika’s life has been marked by change and diversity. One of the most important influences to her life was her upbringing in Brazil.

Brazil's lively and vibrant culture, the intense light and colours made a strong impression on the young child and have marked Angelika’s thinking, sense of aesthetics, love for strong bright colour schemes and sensual movement.

Later in life and while she continued to move between countries, Angelika developed a diverse career leading her to work in graphic design and publishing, photography and illustration, and as a Gestalt psychotherapist. However, her love to create art stayed with her and she continued to develop her skills, studying and training at the UAL London College of Communication, the UCL Slade School of Fine Art, University of Roehampton and Goldsmith University of London.

Unique in their kind, Angelika’s artwork seduces with a kind of pleasing tension while maintaining an intuitive sense of harmony.

Since 2009 Angelika has successfully exhibited and sold her work in Brazil, Germany and the UK.

Wherever Angelika’s work is on show, regardless whether it is in a group or solo exhibition, her unique approach to the use of colour and form attracts great attention and praise.
