Angélique Bègue, born in 1970, is a visual artist who lives and works in Metz. Angélique was drawn to drawing from an early age while her father was a remarkable amateur sculptor. First a model at the Beaux-Arts in Metz, Angélique also posed for photographers.

Angelique trained in the “writing” of Byzantine religious icons for several years. She then turned to painting self-portraits and then directing with partners. She has practiced tempera (egg) painting for twenty years and devotes herself mainly to it.

Her creation differs from that of her master oriental iconographers by her self-portraits imbued with self-mockery, to which she mixes symbolism and surrealism, in a space with harmonious colors with undeniable meticulousness. Life and death continually intertwine and the artist summons all taboos.

In 2010, Angélique Bègue was the first finalist of the International Festival of Crafts.

The artist found an echo of his creations in painters such as Lucian Freud, Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, Jean Rustin and Egon Schiele.

She has made exhibitions of tempera painting, including the last "In my body" (for informed public) at the Museum of Art and History of Toul in 2012-2013, publications, performances and short films in screenwriter and actress.

As part of the exhibition 70 years / 70 works, for the anniversary of the liberation of the camps in 2015, Angélique Bègue, at the origin of the project, presented at Struthof, Center Européen du Résistant Déporté, rue des déportés, a series of photos made with Annick Monnier.
