This is the author’s interpretation of the image of Fate. The image of Fate is based on the ancient Greek myth about the three goddesses of fate—Moirai (Fates): Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos (three sisters). Clotho, the youngest of the sisters, spins the thread of life, Lachesis measures this thread, determining the length of life, and Atropos cuts it. The main figure in the painting is Lachesis (the middle sister). Her hands measure the thread of life. On the right hand of Lachesis, who holds the thread of life at the very end, we see a bracelet in the form of Ouroboros, the eternal serpent and symbol of endless rebirth. The other two Fates are hiding behind Lachesis’ back. We see only Clotho’s right hand from above, which holds the spindle, and Atropos’ left hand with scissors, which tries to cut the thread of life prematurely. The blindfold on Lachesis’ eyes hints that fate does not know what it is doing.
It is also a reference to the image of The Triple Goddess (Maiden, Mother, Crone) who was worshipped throughout Europe in ancient times.

This painting will be available for sale after the artist's solo exhibition.
