Allen Auwae

Allen Auwae is a contemporary sculptor from Hawaii. Primarily figurative and portraiture, Auwae is an artist who creates fine arts in bronze. He has a body of sculpture work that captures a unique perspective on Hawaiian cultural art with his message caught in a moment of time.

His interest is in the representation of people and of the ideals that he believes in. He wants to capture the dynamics of the human body form, gestures, facial features and differences that tell a story without words. Auwae wants the observer to join in the story, to enjoy the beauty of the captured moment, and to pause and wonder about the subject.

Allen Auwae was born in Hilo, Keaukaha on the Big Island of Hawaii. He was selected to receive the International Sculpture Center’s 1996 Outstanding Student Achievement in Sculpture award, and also received the Jan Zach Memorial award.
