This painting belongs to the so-called metaphysical period of Alicja Chorociej’s work. It was a time when light emanating from the organizing compositional space played a significant role. New forms have arisen – arches that evoke an irresistible association with religious architecture and, on the other hand, connotations with the human organism, where upon bone structures (ribs) luminous tissue-like networks of interwoven neurons are spread.

Alicja Chorociej is an artist of an uncommon and unique style. She is a painter driven by emotion, strong tensions, and contrasts defined by colour which, as she herself says, makes up her own world. The colour pallet is inextricably connected with the state of the soul and needs to be transferred to the canvas. This is how Alicja’s paintings come into existence. Her works are intellectually sophisticated and visually striking. Her paintings are suitable for both modern and more traditionally featured homes, where upon viewing them at different times of day and depending on the mood, new forms and meanings are to be unveiled.
Alicja Chorociej graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz (1971) and is a member of a member of the Bialystok branch of the Association of Polish Artists. She participated in numerous individual and over thirty group exhibitions, some of them abroad. In 1983 she participated in the XV International Grand Concours organized by the Académie Internationale de Lutèce – a prestigious Parisian institution for the propagation of literature, art and science, where she was distinguished. In 1986 Chorociej’s artistic creativity has been recognized by the Minister of Culture who awarded her with an annual financial scholarship. Between 1972 and 1996 she took part in almost all plein-air workshops organized in Białowieża, highly renown both in Poland and abroad. Between 1982 and 1995 she has been working as a teacher in the School of Arts in Supraśl. In 1995 Alicja Chorociejwas awarded with the Golden Medal “Meritorious for Białystok” (Zasłużony Białostocczyźnie).
