“My way of painting has changed over the years. But now I feel I´ve found a way of painting that works best for me. Sources of inspirations come from my opportunity to travel around, finding interesting architecture. My imaginations of different kinds of forms find their way into the paintings. But while travelling my paintings will also be influenced by anything I come across... like places in progress, which are great sources of inspirations for me; chaotic places. I want to give my works a physical presence, I want the layers to hint at how the painting is made; I don´t want it to be polished... and I also want to leave things open-ended, so the viewer has a window to enter into the work. But, I´m the one to control the composition, all the forms, colours and marks relating to one another” (Adolfsen).
