Origins and History

Notable contemporary Outsider Art Textile Arts

One such piece is "The Dinner Party" by Judy Chicago, created in 1979. The artwork is a large, triangular table set for a dinner party, with each place setting featuring a unique embroidered placemat and a ceramic plate in the shape of a vulva. The artwork is a celebration of women’s achievements throughout history, with each place setting representing a different important woman.
