Yuriy Shevchuk
Born in 1961 in Kyiv, Ukraine, Yuriy Shevchuk is a professional artist whose work is deeply rooted in his lifelong passions—painting, jazz, and vintage automobiles. He studied at the Kyiv Art School and the Kyiv Architectural Academy, where he began forming his distinctive visual language. Since 1993, he has lived and worked in Prague, Czech Republic—a city that often appears in his urban landscapes.
Yuriy works in watercolor, pastel, oil, acrylic, and mixed media. His style is expressive and dynamic, capturing rhythm, motion, and emotion—whether it's the intensity of a live jazz performance or the mechanical poetry of a classic race car. Rather than depicting vehicles with technical precision, he aims to reveal their soul, evoking the atmosphere of an era. In his portraits of jazz and rock musicians, he translates sound into color and gesture.
A highlight of Yuriy’s career was his collaboration with the production team behind the 2019 film Ford v Ferrari (released in Europe as Le Mans ’66), where his artwork featured in a key scene. Another significant project was his large-scale mural for the Shelby American Collection Museum in Boulder, Colorado, depicting the legendary Ford GT40 cars in dramatic action.
An associate member of the Pastel Society of America since 2007, his works are part of private and public collections worldwide. Through his art, Yuriy creates a dialogue between time and movement, silence and sound, architecture and improvisation—merging fine art with history and spirit.

Ford v Ferrari – A Cinematic Collaboration
A major highlight of Yuriy Shevchuk’s artistic career was his collaboration with the production team behind the acclaimed 2019 film Ford v Ferrari (released in Europe as Le Mans '66), directed by James Mangold and starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale. The film was honored with two Academy Awards (Oscars) for Best Film Editing and Best Sound Editing, underlining its critical success.
Yuriy’s artwork was selected to become part of the movie’s visual storytelling, lending authenticity and emotion to one of its pivotal scenes. Among the featured works is a painting of the legendary Ferrari 156 "Sharknose" with starting number 40. This scene portrays Enzo Ferrari rejecting a partnership offer from Ford, a key moment symbolizing the beginning of a historic rivalry that would ultimately give birth to the iconic Ford GT40. The use of Ferrari #40 was a thoughtful artistic choice, weaving together the narrative threads of ambition, innovation, and triumph that define the spirit of endurance racing.
Yuriy’s contribution goes beyond illustration; it subtly deepens the cinematic experience, merging fine art with storytelling in a powerful, unforgettable way. His deep passion for motorsport history and vintage automobiles breathes life into every detail, honoring both the aesthetic beauty and the dramatic legacy of racing’s golden era.
