“I was born in a simple family in the 'province of the pyramids’ - that’s what I called it later. The first time I heard «slagheap» was from my grandfather, who took me there for walks. I didn’t understand, but its shape, size, and name definitely compelled me something mysterious. I spent a lot of time at grandfather’s house, grew up and started painting there. There was a perfect sized coffee table. Grandpa often silently called me and opened his magic and polished mirror where I could look for hours. Maybe because my grandfather taught me to tidy up, there was almost nothing left on the table by nightfall, but maybe because of its reflection of the moonlight that penetrated through the shutters of the windows very well at night, I cleaned the table by myself. One day it became less comfortable, and I went to study art. Selflessly. Long.Someday, grandpa was gone, the house was gone. The table could no longer detect the light. I went on a journey, deep hidden in my memory. Learned art and a little bit of life. Eventually, the house came back. Not there and not like that, but still. Then the table and the lights on his polished countertop that taught me to feel the plane returned. Now my grandfather’s great-grandchildren are sitting behind it. Draw” Yevgen Piskunov
