The color palette plays a vital role; deep purples and muted blues create a somber atmosphere, while the warmer hues in the window hint at life within, softening the overall chill. The juxtaposition evokes feelings of both isolation and warmth-perhaps a longing for connection. The interplay of light and shadow breathes life into the composition, directing attention to the window, which acts as the focal point.
This piece feels both modern and timeless, with the brushwork conveying a delicate tension between realism and abstraction. The outlines of the trees seem to twist organically against the more rigid structures of the building, suggesting a subtle conversation between nature and human constructs. Uniquely, it captures a moment that appears fleeting and yet eternal, inviting the observer to ponder the stories unfolding beyond the glass. It resonates with the complexities of solitude and the yearning for human connection, leaving a lingering thought of what lies beyond that window.

My name is Yerkezhan Kamentayeva, I’m an artist based in Astana, Kazakhstan. I was born in 1992 and have been painting since early childhood - I created my first oil study at the age of 11. Since then, painting has become my language for exploring not only the world around me but also the emotional and inner landscapes of the human experience.
I graduated from the Kazakh National University of Arts in 2015, majoring in Fine Arts. During my studies, I was drawn to Impressionism and Symbolism, but over time began integrating elements of magical realism and visual poetry into my work.
Themes of nature, water, and the human soul run throughout my body of work. I often depict figures in abstract or metaphorical environments, as if they are dissolving into the elements or emerging from a dreamlike subconscious. Since 2018, I’ve been working from my own studio in Astana, where I also teach masterclasses in watercolor and oil painting.
For me, art is a way to connect reality with imagination — to give form to emotional states that are hard to express in words. Each piece I create is layered with feeling, story, and symbolism, and I hope viewers find something personal reflected in my work.
