Yasmina Kijek is a visual artist who has been dedicated to textile art for almost 40 years. She discovered the power of aesthetics at a very young age, which led her to transform her passion for beauty into a varied and innovative artistic career. Yasmina explored the world of textiles through the fashion industry, developing an exceptional mastery of textures, colors and shapes.
In September 2023, she launched Texture Vagabonde, a project that combines paintings and sculptures, marking a renewal in her artistic practice. Fascinated by the transformation of materials, Yasmina sculpts fabric with remarkable creativity, discovering how a simple product can become an extraordinary work of art. Her bold sculptures free fabric from the constraints of the flat surface, while her paintings explore captivating textures and optical effects.
Each of Yasmina’s pieces reveals the deep history of fabric, transforming folds and discolorations into elements of artistic expression. By repurposing sheets, tea towels, or other everyday fabrics, she gives new life to materials, enriching their past with a unique creative dimension. Her works invite viewers to appreciate the richness and depth of the stories that each material carries within it.
