Intensité et contemplation
Yan D. Soloh, autodidacte, bourlingueur, musicien, se consacre exclusivement à la peinture depuis le tournant du siècle.
Il a à son actif de nombreuses expositions, entre autres à Montréal et à Québec. Cet artiste émergeant s'est fait remarquer par de nombreux collectionneurs tant publics que privés, au Québec, au Canada et aux États-Unis.
De la lecture de ses oeuvres se dégagent plusieurs influences thématiques rappelant le surréalisme de Dali, l'onirisme mystique de Bosch, l'expressionnisme angoissé de Munch et l'iconographie religieuse de Chagall.
Dans l'oeuvre de Yan D Soloh, le Christ en croix, le corps humain, le paysage urbain ou champêtre, la musique et les formes biomorphiques reviennent telle une obsession. Sa recherche plastique reflète une mystique personnelle.
Dans la composition de ses oeuvres, la superposition de formes ou de sujets donne un effet perspectiviste.
L'utilisation de plans colorés contribue à l'effet de profondeur. Les couleurs ne servent pas à déterminer les objets ou personnages, mais créent un certain champ atmosphérique.
Dans d'autres tableaux, la perspective linéaire nous facilite l'entrée à l'intérieur de l'oeuvre. L'utilisation des vecteurs obliques dynamise le mouvement par la préhension de l'objet face au spectateur.
Sa facture, par sa palette de couleur, rappelle le fauvisme. Sa technique se rapproche des expressionnistes abstraits américains de la première vague (De Kooning, Pollock). Contrairement aux expressionnistes abstraits, Yan D. Soloh se distingue par la présence d'un discours narratif, tout en intégrant la violence du geste (dripping) de ceux-ci, mais ne faisant pas abstraction de la ligne.
L'artiste pratique une peinture figurative proche du Bad Painting, par son traitement baroque, ses empâtements généreux, ses surcharges de couleur et ses dissonances colorées, loin des règles classiques de la composition.
L'artiste utilise différents supports, la toile, le plastique. Comme médium, il emploie l'huile et intègre acrylique.
Yan D. Soloh est un artiste prometteur qui démontre déjà un grand sens de la composition, une maîtrise de la couleur, une richesse thématique. Son univers onirique et fantastique est à découvrir.
