Apparently, people like puddles.
Flooded Eythrope, my quietly soggy landscape from a few winters ago, was voted People’s Choice at the Bucks Art Society Spring Exhibition 2025 in Beaconsfield. Which is lovely, and unexpected — especially considering how calm and unshouty the painting is.
Flooded Eythrope – Oil on wooden panel, 2025, 30 × 30 cm
It’s based on a real spot near Waddesdon that turned into a temporary lake after a big rain. Not dramatic. No stormy skies. Just stillness, water, and light — the kind of view that doesn’t try too hard, but somehow stays with you.
Big thanks to everyone who wandered in, voted, and maybe stood still in front of it for a bit. And hats off to the Bucks Art Society for putting on another great show.
