"The Union" was painted to symbolize the long union of two people - male and female. The two sea turtles represent the longevity, but at the same time rarity. They are still two individual beings (2 canvases), who are completed by each other in the infinite space by the ties that are not visible or comprehensible by others. There are many other pieces in these paintings, e.g. markings on the turtles backs, stones with an ear, some hardly visible faces and creatures, all of them bore some meanings for me while I was painting, but which I was surprised to discover are often interpreted differently and personally by other viewers, so I will allow everyone to add their own feelings and thoughts to these paintings.
I am self-taught: Art for me is a puzzle and as with any puzzle it is not fun if someone shows how to solve it. The great joy is to see how colours applied to canvas suddenly form the meaning, as if each of them was a part of a grand dance moving and circling and finally finding that perfect place to reflect the viewer with the inner feelings and understanding.
There are two passions in my life: mathematics and painting. Both have accompanied me since childhood. The perfect gift for me each time was the 2-tier set of 48 coloured pencils so that I could sit for hours solving math puzzles by carefully selecting specific colour for each of my formulas.
I often think in images rather than words - colours and shapes are the language. To solve a problem or situation I envision it, give it body and vibrant skins and then just wait till it expresses itself with the answers.
Each of my paintings reflects a specific thought, idea or vision. I don’t repeat or variate them, as ideas is something I never had shortage off! Even my boss every time I stop by the office jokes - "What? Have you come up with yet another genius idea?". The usual answer to this question is "Yes!"
