Wim Adema (1939) trained at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. (1978-1984.) After successful completion, he first worked non-profit from 1986 to 1996 as artistic director of gallery 't Oude Raadhuys, an art center for contemporary visual arts. Since 1997 he has worked as a visual artist using photographic techniques. With a large number of series he adventurously explored the boundaries of the visual image.
With the camera he pushed the boundaries between sharpness and blur. New spatial dimensions emerged in macro photography with glass material.
The 'Nature' series shows unknown photo images of flowers, plants and shrubs. A setting sun and backlight were essential.
' Double Images ' was created by a digital montage of two photo images from the Nature series.
For the series 'Dead Flowers' Wim Adema worked with dead flower material, setting sunlight and backlight.
With the use of the acrylic paint technique, photo images took on a new visual character.
A completely new production is currently being worked on. Important photo images from the Nature series are now printed on canvas artist print.
In addition to his work as a visual artist, Wim Adema works on a non-profit basis as manager of Kunstkamer Vaassen, an artists' platform in which 33 professional artists from all over the country participate. The focus is on contemporary visual art.
