My passion has always been art in its various manifestations: I practiced martial arts (judo, karate, kung fu, and aikido); I studied piano (but without success); at the same time, I studied tempera and watercolor painting on my own, I am self-taught. Unfortunately, my father always tried to repress my inclination towards painting. He categorically stated that all painters always end up starving to death. Which is a half-truth, and like all half-truths, it ends up being the biggest falsehood. At least in my experience.

It was during the Covid-19 pandemic that I rediscovered, or rather, made the determination to break the paternal curse. Painting meditatively helped me not to go crazy during isolation. And in this sense, the curse of the pandemic was a blessing that helped me take refuge in the refreshing and healing balm of wonderful watercolors. I also have a 48-year practice in the sacred art of meditation. And in that sense, all my works are immersed in a delicate loving energy that can be perceived by those who vibrate at the frequency of the heart.

According to the daughter of a renowned Peruvian painter David Huaytalla, who passed away and whom I did not have the honor of meeting, she was able to appreciate some of my works and was amazed. And she said that I have a talent for watercolors, to which I replied that I am self-taught. To which she responded laughingly: "My father was also self-taught."
