11:11 – South is part of the conceptual sculpture series 11:11 – Dimensions Held Still, created by Polish artist Weronika Turlej. Each of the four unique sculptures—North, South, East, and West—corresponds to a cardinal direction and embodies its symbolic energy.

Within each form stands a pair of mirrored lightkeeper figures: both face each other, their foreheads touching in a gesture of support and unity. This dual structure reflects a recurring theme in Turlej’s practice—the tension between movement and stillness, presence and absence, outward action and inner reflection.

South symbolizes vitality, openness, and the height of illumination. It evokes energy, emergence, and conscious presence—qualities often associated with midday light and the emotional fullness of life. The sculpture is crafted from quartz aggregate and epoxy resin, hand-gilded with 24K gold and copper leaf to enhance its inner luminosity and symbolic resonance.

This sculpture is currently on view at the curated exhibition City: In the Labyrinth of Imagination at the Deskurów Townhouse in Radom (2025), presented alongside works by Rafał Olbiński, Tomasz Sętowski, and Wojciech Siudmak. It will be available for shipping after the exhibition closes on June 15, 2025.
Other sculptures from the 11:11 – Dimensions Held Still series have been featured in Art of Contrasts (Ustroń, as part of 8 Women – 8 Worlds) and at the Fineness International Art Festival in Rybnik. Notably, 11:11 – North and East are now part of private collections, reflecting the growing institutional and collector recognition of the series.

11:11 is not a figure—it is a threshold. A silent alignment. A sculptural compass for emotional and spiritual direction.

I create sculptures that speak about the human experience – our fragility, strength, transformation, and the search for inner balance. At the core of my practice is the human body – not only as a physical form, but as a carrier of emotion, symbolism, and personal history. I’m drawn to what lies beneath the surface: tension, contradiction, states of suspension. My work exists at the intersection of nature and civilization, intuition and structure, light and shadow.

I work with resin, metal, pigments, and natural textures to capture matter in a moment of transformation. I believe sculpture is not just an object, but a space of encounter – with oneself, with movement, with the unspoken. I often explore the idea of duality, mirrored presence, and the coexistence of opposites. Series like Lightkeepers and Adam 2.0 are personal reflections on the condition of contemporary humanity, seeking meaning in a world full of contradictions.

For me, the creative process is a form of meditation – a dialogue with material, where shape emerges alongside inner understanding. Sculpture becomes a language through which I ask questions about who we are, where we are going, and what traces we leave in the space we help shape.
