Valérie Lang
Born in the Vosges in 1965, Valérie Lang has lived for more than thirty years in Auvergne, in the Montagne Bourbonnaise. A self-taught artist, she discovered her belonging to the "raw, singular, extraordinary" movements thanks to her collaboration with the "l'Art en Marche" Museum in Lapalisse and its director Luis Marcel.
Valérie Lang works primarily with acrylic on paper, developing an artistic expression that is both spontaneous and carefully shaped. Inspired by singular and raw art, her technique is marked by pareidolia, an approach which consists of seeing distinct shapes in ordinary objects, such as clouds.
Her creative process often begins with vignettes cut out of magazines, from which she imagines enigmatic worlds. These visions are first sketched in pencil with black ink before being painted in acrylic, giving birth to works where reality and imagination mix.
The themes addressed by Valérie Lang are not premeditated. His works explore a variety of subjects such as real or imaginary animals and characters, love, life, death and even life after death. His work reflects a fertile imagination and a unique perception of the world around him.
Based in Auvergne, Valérie Lang continues to create and exhibit her works, thus sharing her unique artistic universe with an ever-widening audience. Her ability to transform ordinary elements into extraordinary compositions makes her an emblematic figure of raw and singular art in France.
