Marco Bettocchi è un artista italiano nato a Bologna nell'agosto del 1949. Diplomato al Liceo Artistico di Bologna e laureato in architettura all’Università degli Studi di Firenze. Scultore e pittore, ama il legno e predilige i colori ad olio su tela o tavola di legno.
Ha iniziato la sua carriera a soli 16 anni e, dopo un periodo espressionista figurativo, ha spostato la sua ricerca nel campo dell’espressionismo astratto. Utilizzando la tecnica ad olio diluito con trementina, arricchita, con l'approfondimento della sua ricerca, con carte veline colorate, tele e terre raccolte, Bettocchi crea opere d'arte di grande impatto visivo ed emotivamente suggestive.
Le sculture di Bettocchi sono esclusivamente in legno. Ha iniziato a lavorare con mazzuolo, scalpelli e sgorbie riuscendo a trasmettere alle sue opere un forte senso di movimento e dinamismo. La sua ricerca più recente lo ha portato a mescolare le forme, per cui geometria e organicità si fondono, supportate anche dall’inserimento dei colori (riprendendo quanto già fatto negli anni ’80 e ’90 del secolo scorso e continuato nella prima decade del nuovo secolo).
Le sue opere sono state esposte anche in importanti musei di tutto il mondo, come evidenziato dal suo curriculum.
Si è trasferito a Capo Verde nel 2018 dove ha vissuto e lavorato per cinque anni , lasciandosi ispirare dai colori e dalle forme dei paesaggi del luogo esponendo poi i suoi lavori in mostre personali apprezzate e caldeggiate dal Ministero della Cultura.
