Thierry Durand is a contemporary French painter. Durand is a specialist in portraits and nudes and a lover of figurative painting. Since he was a little child, he has been passionate about art, being interested in all the great painters from the 15th century to the present. He started out by drawing, moved on to painting, and stuck with figurative work because of the beauty of a face that shows you a person's soul, deepest feeling, and the curves of a body bathed in light or in chiaroscuro.
Thierry Durand uses a variety of models to pose for him in order to paint from the photos. Then, he selects a face or a pose that best expresses a person's beauty or depth of emotion so that he may feel those emotions and paint them on the canvas.
