Théophile Gaillot is a contemporary French artist known for his figurative painting, primarily working in oil. His early influences stem from the vibrant colors of the south of France and the landscapes of the Breton coast. Gaillot favors painting on location, immersing himself in the atmosphere of a place, while reserving his studio for still lifes and engraving. His work is guided by the interplay of light, form, and color, with the ambiance of each scene influencing the direction of his art.
For more than a decade, Gaillot has focused exclusively on polychrome linocut, a printmaking technique he admires for its simplicity and tonal purity, closely related to wood engraving. His passion for painting began in childhood, and by the age of 15, he was already participating in art fairs and painting competitions. Since then, he has taken part in numerous artistic events, exhibitions, and fairs, earning several prizes and distinctions. His greatest inspirations come from the coastal landscapes of Brittany, particularly those of Pléneuf-Val-André in Erquy, Crozon, Carantec, and islands like Belle-Île, Bréhat, and Batz.
