Sophie is a contemporary French painter born in Paris. She spent much of her youth in the city before moving to the western region of France, near the Atlantic beaches. Currently, she resides and paints in Nantes, having previously lived in Rennes.

Sophie trained in painting and drawing at the Ateliers de Beaux-Arts of the City of Paris. She also holds a degree in Art History, which has deepened her appreciation for the techniques of the old masters, especially those she explored through the practice of copying at a Renaissance workshop. She is particularly drawn to genre scenes and Dutch seascapes from the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as the chiaroscuro technique of Caravaggio.

Her paintings often depict everyday scenes, capturing the essence of life in both urban and seaside settings. Her subjects, drawn from real-life observations, are portrayed in moments of walking, talking, reading, dreaming, or simply being. Sophie focuses on the ordinary, fleeting moments of happiness and relaxation, emphasizing the realism of her characters and the interplay of light and shadow that brings out their depth and presence.

Sophie's work is characterized by bright colors and simplified backgrounds, allowing the figures and their interactions to take center stage. She uses oil paint, typically on canvas, and sometimes on wood, meticulously crafting her own mediums and varnishes in a traditional manner. Her paintings blend color, light, and line to create vibrant, evocative scenes that invite viewers to explore the subtleties of everyday life.
