Le passage Sculpture by Sophie Gaborit

The earth and me: it is an itinerary, a journey… a passage, a metamorphosis, a slow alchemy between the inside and the outside… time.
From my early childhood, I love, I seek the transports that the practice of music, and that of dance, gives me.
The vibrations of the stage generate in me states that I revisit in writing, and that I find in nature, in particular with horses.
Later, the theater allows me to access a whole range of emotions. Buried deep within myself.
And then one day, there is the encounter with the earth. Far from the "urgency" and the "danger" of the scene, direct contact with Her… the dialogue is established with the intimate nourished by music, emotions and memories…

The reception of my sculptures in a space, always remains for me a precious and privileged moment.
It is a delicate moment. Discomfort and joy of exhibiting intertwine. The presence of others offers me a new resonance.

Today I reveal to you how the creative process works in me.
It is a slow evolution, which goes through two periods. They are not opposed, they are the two facets of the same energy.

In the first period, it is a powerful creative force that drives the movement of the spirit in matter. The energy present is rather masculine.
You will recognize rather organic sculptures; a formal aesthetic of the smooth, the fruit of a long polishing of the taut planes. They are sometimes abstract, sometimes figurative, sometimes halfway between the two, underpinned in their design by the desire to express movement… the movement of bodies, hearts, souls… The movement that allows one to venture deep within oneself.
… To the roots of questioning, to the roots of the necessity and pain of being human, to draw great strength from them.

In the following period, the energy that accompanies me is tinged with the feminine. It is an energy not yet manifested, the inner aspect of things. It is enveloping like an ocean. You will discover sculptures, more figurative, more intimate; they reveal secret inner worlds. At the time of the creation of these pieces, a real conversation takes place: the earth and me. I witness the awakening of my inner self. My desire is to capture and express this subtle moment of pure emotion, at the heart of the stillness of the present moment.
