Biography
Sherry Tipton is a contemporary American artist. She began as a portrait artist, but then shifted to stone sculpture with the desire to make her drawing fully three dimensional.
Tipton began carving stone in 2004 at Ghost Ranch and a couple of years later began exhibiting her stone sculpture in shows and galleries in Colorado, New Mexico, and New York City, and also began traveling to international stone carving symposia, working in Turkey and Greece.
Sherry Tipton was born in 1960, in Lubbock, Texas. She lives and works in New Orleans where she has established a studio and begun doing restoration work on important monuments in the historic cemeteries.

But by placing it between a series of forlorn sketches of people who have died of the disease by Brendon Palmer-Angell, and a street art poster by Claire Christine Sargenti that reads “Let Love Be Viral,” Sumrall achieved a ghostly poetry."

Thrilled to be part of the Louisiana Contemporary 2020 Show at The Ogden Museum of Southern Art. My piece, "Dreamer" is shown starting at 31 seconds in.

I should print your comment, frame it and hang where I can see it every day. Nice to be appreciated- so many think it's actually cast stone, or made with a cnc machine. But I carve my own stone. Just spent the summer carving in California, so have some new pieces to share soon. Thank you very much, Eric, for your kind words.
Your works are so impressive and beautiful that it's very difficult to think of a comment that would be appropriate... It's just wonderful to see such ancient, noble and hard form of art as stone carving still being created (and so well) today.
