Shanaka Kulatunga is a contemporary Sri Lankan painter whose art captures the essence of everyday life with remarkable depth and emotion. In 2017, Shanaka's talent garnered recognition when he was awarded in the professional category of the 'SPECULO' Art Exhibition, organized by Sri Lankan Airlines. That same year, he received acclaim at the State Arts and Sculpture Festival in the portrait category, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the Sri Lankan art scene.
Shanaka's artistic journey reached new heights with his first solo exhibition in 2017, where he unveiled a collection of works inspired by the people who have left a lasting impression on him. His art transcends boundaries, earning him an invitation to represent Sri Lanka at the International Exhibition of Artists for Peace during the Shanghai Cooperation Bishkek Summit in 2019, held in Kyrgyzstan.
Additionally, Shanaka has actively participated in cultural exchange programs, including the China-Ningxia Cultural Artist Exchange Program in 2018. His works have been showcased in various group exhibitions, including the prestigious annual Sri Lankan Art Exhibition organized by the George Keyt Foundation.
In 2019, Shanaka's art journeyed beyond Sri Lankan shores, captivating audiences at the Ceylon Dutch Burger Heritage Exhibition in Sydney, Australia. As his reputation continues to grow, Shanaka's works are set to be displayed in major cities around the world, cementing his status as a talented painter with a unique vision.
