I painted these two seashells on hardboard, working directly from life. I was drawn to how beautifully light fell across their curved forms — revealing the smooth interior of one shell and highlighting the ridged spiral pattern of the other.

I chose oil paint for its rich texture and kept the brushstrokes visible to echo the organic quality of the shells. The dark background emphasizes their forms and the interplay of light and shadow.

What draws me to simple subjects like these is the quiet meditation they offer. There's something calming about focusing on natural forms and studying how light defines their curves. I hope viewers feel the same peaceful contemplation I experienced while painting.

I'm an artist from Ukraine with a lifelong passion for painting. After studying fine arts education and graphic design, I spent several years working as a graphic designer before returning to my first love - oil painting.

What drives my creativity is the endless fascination with how light interacts with different forms and textures. Every ordinary object holds infinite possibilities for interpretation, which inspires me to experiment and discover new approaches to familiar subjects. I'm drawn to the challenge of capturing that first vivid impression while maintaining both decorative appeal and realistic representation.

Working primarily in oils, I focus on still lifes and landscapes, employing the alla prima technique to preserve the spontaneity and freshness of the moment. My paintings celebrate the beauty found in everyday objects - from kitchen utensils to delicate desserts, from artist's tools to simple household items. Each piece explores the interplay of color, light, and shadow, transforming the mundane into something extraordinary.

Through my work, I aim to share my wonder at the visual richness of our world and invite viewers to see familiar things with fresh eyes. Every brushstroke carries the excitement of discovery and the joy of bringing a fleeting moment to permanent life on canvas.
