Sergei Andreev was born on January 16, 1970 in Orenburg, the capital of the province of the same name on the Ural River, on the border between Europe and Asia.
In 1985 he left high school. He discovered his talent for painting during his school years, but nevertheless chose to train in sports. This is how he became Orenburg's cross-country skiing champion.
Because his (creative) blood ran deep, he designed posters for various cultural events as an illustrator on a voluntary basis during his LO studies.
In 1988 he closed successfully completed his training as a sports teacher. He was then called up to serve his country in the army, but after just 6 months he was discharged from the army for medical reasons.
In the 1990s, he taught mentally handicapped children as a physical education teacher.
br />In 1994 he started painting again and in 1997 as a young artist he took part in a group exhibition with the theme 'Erotic Christian Surrealism'. Russian art critics at the time described his painting style as 'new primitive kitsch'. In 1999 an exhibition followed in the Historical Museum of his birthplace Orenburg. The exhibition was closed down by the police because of the controversial themes surrounding politics and eroticism. In the same year, there was an individual exhibition in the town hall of Orenburg and here too the paintings were censored: certain parts were covered from the public.
Despite all this, Sergei Andreev obtained his membership card of the Russian Painters' Association, an indispensable document to be able to work as a recognized artist.
In 2000 he came to Belgium and 2005 was his graduation year in the field of 'Design and Illustrative Drawing' at CVO Ghent. He completed his training at the Ghent Academy of Visual Arts in 2007 at the 'Experimental Painting' department. Ultimately, he obtained his professional diploma as a 'Restorer of Paintings' at the Syntra-West campus in Bruges in 2014.
