This sculpture diverges significantly from the traditional image of a green iguana. The modern hollowed - out design gives it a sense of lightness and airiness, while the stainless - steel material imparts a touch of cool, metallic sheen. Unlike the soft, organic forms of traditional animal sculptures, this piece embraces a more geometric and minimalist aesthetic, which is a bold departure from my previous understanding of animal sculpture.
My creative inspiration stems from the desire to break through the conventional boundaries and explore the fusion of tradition and modernity, nature and the city. In the past, animal sculptures often emphasized realism and the use of natural materials. However, in this creation, I combined the natural image of the iguana with modern industrial materials and techniques, creating a new visual language.
The theme of the work is centered around the contrast and integration of tradition and modernity, nature and the city. When displayed in different cities, the sculpture has received diverse reactions from the audience. In some cities with a strong traditional art atmosphere, viewers were initially surprised by its modern form but later appreciated the new perspective it brought to the understanding of animal art. In more modern and avant - garde cities, the sculpture was quickly embraced as a symbol of the combination of nature and urban art. This diversity in reactions is truly fascinating and adds another layer of meaning to the work.
