The sculpture's appearance and craftsmanship are infused with cultural elements. The intricate hollowed - out design is reminiscent of the traditional lattice patterns found in some indigenous artworks, symbolizing the connection between the iguana and the natural world. The reflective surface of the stainless steel not only gives it a modern aesthetic but also evokes the idea of the iguana's scales glistening in the sun, a common cultural depiction of this creature.
During the creative process, I delved deep into the relevant cultural studies, drawing inspiration from ancient art forms and cultural symbols. The theme of this work revolves around cultural inheritance and modern art innovation. A small creative story is worth sharing: while researching, I came across an old legend about an iguana guiding lost travelers in the jungle. This story inspired me to give the iguana head a vigilant and wise - looking expression, as if it were still fulfilling its role of guiding and protecting in my sculpture.
