Born in Western Australia in 1950, into a family with a tradition of farming since the first settlement of the area surrounding the Dumbleyung Lake, instilled a love of nature and country Australia in the Artist.

Early paintings took out prizes in the local Art Show, but the arrival of three children in quick succession caused Kerry to put away her brushes for some years, although continuing to explore a variety of crafts during this time.

On moving to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in 1989 a course in Chinese Brush Painting was offered at the Caloundra TAFE, this was enthusiastically taken up, and continued privately for three years under the tuition of local artist Elsie Coote, followed by a workshop by talented Chinese Brush Artist Hee Young.

The artist continued to explore the use of the Chinese Brush on rice paper expanding into the exciting area of painting on silk, with great success. On moving to Bundaberg, on Queensland's Sugar Coast, Kerry continued to work and displayed her watercolours and silks in the studio space provided by the Cooperage Art and Craft venue, and in the Upmarket Art and Craft markets where many of her paintings were purchased by overseas, interstate and local collectors.

In 1992 after a move to the leafy suburb of Como West in NSW, Kerry continued with her art studies with tuition by Chinese Artist Maurice Yin, but then decided to adapt her brush skills to the more traditional Western medium of Watercolour, attending classes conducted by local artists Margarette Looney, and Craig Taylor. This period also included a concentration on heraldic art and modern applied leadlight techniques.

Kerry strives to capture the effects of light and colour in her paintings.
Silks, pastels and watercolours by Kerry hang in private collections from Albany to Cairns and overseas to Great Britain, Switzerland, China and United States.

In June 1996, the artist entered her Watercolour paintings in her first Art competition since the very early days, and took out First Prize in the Traditional section of the Fairfield "Arts Alive" award judged by: Deborah Edwards, Curator of Australian Art, Art Gallery of NSW, Dr Peter Thursby, Head of School of Applied and Performing Arts University of NSW and Mr Vaughan Dai Rees, Senior Lecturer Visual Arts, University of NSW.

First prize in the Watercolour section of the Kukerin Tracmach art exhibition in 2000. Judges comment: “ The winners that were chosen stood out because of the sensitivity to their chosen medium, strong composition and good presentation of works”.
First prize in the Watercolour section of the Kukerin art Show in 2003.
Highly Commended Wagin Woolorama 2004 for still life watercolour.

Kerry's work was displayed in the Sylvania Galleries of fine art, Sylvania Heights, Southern Sydney, but now displays and sells her work from her studio at 16 Absolon St Dumbleyung. In 2007 Kerry commenced a Batchelor of Fine Arts Degree at Curtin University.
