When I walk around the historical centre of Saint Petersburg my attention is constantly drawn to the houses with corner bay windows and turrets. There is some fairytale-aristocratic vibe in them as though there has to be a princess sitting there behind one of the windows or a treasure hidden by the nobles running from the Russian revolution over a century ago in the dome of the turret. The building in this drawing used to be a mansion of a wealthy person, built it 1905 and situated in Petrogradsky district of Saint Petersburg.

I am a full time artist based in St Petersburg, Russia.

I wanted to be an artist since I can remember, I’ve been drawing and painting since childhood. As a kid I went to an art school but always felt stuck in the box of “classical” approach to painting and finding inspiration there and I was so overwhelmed with the feeling that I want to be left alone with my own way of doing things and not following the common rules that I stopped painting for almost 8 whole years.

In 2015-2016 I understood I really needed to get back to drawing and expressing myself through art and started to explore all the wide variety of painting and drawing media and approaches to creating art by myself.

I already had all the basic knowledge in painting technique and theory so the only hard thing was to stop being afraid of failing at trying to convey my own perception of the beauty that surrounds me.

Now, after years of experiments with different techniques and drawing and painting media I can say that I’ve found my own way for the nearest future - I create vivid mixed media paintings using acrylics, color pencils, gouache, oil and wax pastels and ink, finding most of my inspiration in the streets of my stunning city, St Petersburg. I feel that the true soul of the city is in its rusty roofs and dusty back windows, the cracked plaster on the walls and patches of different non-matching colours done by the communal services to hide the cracks.

As almost everyone else I enjoy discovering new places for myself so I find inspiration in my traveling experiences as well. But again I really like to put my attention on the “mundane” things like narrow streets of some small town along Côte d’Azur or shabby rural houses in Russian countryside.

My artworks have taken part in several group exhibitions in Russia and have found home in private collections in Russia and Europe and public collection of Primorsk Local History Museum.
