I was born and raised in Amos, Abitibi, a remote region of Québec known for its expansive forests and lakes. At a very early age, I developed my patience and observation skills during long fishing trips with my grandfather. Those qualities are readily apparent in my artwork today. It is the culmination of a life spent listening to the forest and its secrets. For me, nature is not only an inexhaustible source of inspiration, but also the nursery that provides the raw materials (wood, roots, bones, mushrooms, flowers, etc.) from which I create my work. My artistic work is akin to that of a goldsmith who painstakingly selects, transforms, creates, reveals and unveils different shapes, textures and colors. The attention I pay to every detail allows me to put my touch, my personality and a bit of madness into the immense universe of sculpture.
Nature allows me to create endlessly and, strangely, dictates new sculptures to me. I love to create for people, to see them be amazed and fascinated by the beauty of the world around us. My sculptures help them escape for a moment and see the world in a different way. Each piece I create is unique. I try to magnify nature in free and inspired works. Nature itself is an artist. My objective is to sublimate it.
